The Elk Antler Auction is the cornerstone event of Elkfest weekend. In fact, the Elkfest weekend was built around the auction. The first auction was held in 1968. Elkfest 2025 will be the 58th auction.
The Elk Antler Auction is a live auction only. Antlers are sold by lot, varying in weight. Lots may include lefts, rights, and lefts and rights. Matched sets, unless attached to a skull, are selected by our experts based on size, symmetry, color, and number of points. Matched pairs are not likely to be from a single animal.
Each year, specialty items including beetle-cleaned skulls or unusual antlers, like the 2022 Big Bull beetle cleaned skull with antlers or the 2022 Locked in Death double set of antlers, are included in the auction. Because antlers are naturally shed each winter on the National Elk Refuge, no two auctions are ever the same.
Only registered bidders may participate in the auction. Successful bidders must complete payment within 30 minutes after the auction closes.
